Looking for a Stockie alternative
Stockie is not really our competitor. It is an inventory system that includes alerts, where we are an alerts app that includes nothing else. That difference decides this comparison far more than any feature does, so it is worth being clear about which of the two you are actually shopping for.

The two apps are not the same shape
Stockie describes itself as smart inventory forecasting, purchase orders, supplier management and low stock alerts in one app. That is accurate and it is a lot of product. Its plans climb accordingly: $4.99 for the alerting tier, $29.99 once you want the forecasting dashboard and predicted reorder dates, $59.99 for purchase orders and shipment tracking.
Stockwell has one screen's worth of product. You choose which SKUs to watch, set a threshold, name the people who get the email. There is no forecasting to configure because there is no forecasting, no supplier records because there are no suppliers.
So the real question is not which app is better. It is whether you are replacing an inventory system or replacing an email.

Stockie takes most of these rows, which is what you would expect from a larger product at the same entry price. The places we come out ahead are the free plan, which Stockie does not offer at all, the price Slack starts at, plus the record of what was actually sent. Every row was read on 25 August 2026 except Slack, read on 3 September 2026.
When the smaller app is the right answer
Three situations. They are the only three we would argue for.
- You want to try before paying. Stockie lists no free plan, only a 14 day trial. Our free tier runs indefinitely on 50 SKUs, so you can watch your twenty fastest movers forever without a card.
- You already own an inventory system. If purchase orders and forecasting live somewhere else, Stockie's higher tiers are paying twice for the same job. The alert is the only gap.
- Nobody is going to configure it. A forecasting dashboard that nobody opens is worse than no dashboard, because it creates the impression the problem is handled. If the honest answer is that one person will set a number once then want to be left alone, buy the app that is only that.
If you are replacing Stocky, read this first. Stocky did five separate jobs. Stockie replaces most of them and we replace one. Our Stocky alternative page maps each job to what covers it, which is a better starting point than either product page.
When Stockie is the better buy
- You raise purchase orders. We have none and never will. This decides it on its own.
- You keep supplier records with delivery times. Same answer.
- You have between 1,500 and 8,000 variants. Stockie covers that at $4.99. We would charge you $9.99 for 10,000.
- You are replacing Stocky in full. Stockie is much closer in shape to what you are losing.
That list is longer than the one above it. For a store that genuinely runs on purchase orders, Stockie is the better product and paying $59.99 for the tier that includes them is a reasonable thing to do.

Common questions
Is Stockwell a full replacement for Stockie?
No. Stockie does purchase orders, supplier management, demand forecasting, stock transfers and alerts. Stockwell does alerts. If you use more than the alerting part of Stockie, moving would leave real gaps that no setting in our app closes.
Which is cheaper, Stockie or Stockwell?
Both entry paid plans are $4.99, but Stockie's covers 8,000 variants against our 1,500, so it is better value per SKU. Stockwell has a free plan for 50 SKUs and Stockie lists none, so we are cheaper only at the very bottom. Prices read on 25 August 2026.
Can I set a different threshold for each variant?
Yes, in both. Each app alerts on every variant separately and each holds a number per variant, so a size that sells out in a week and one that sits for a season do not share a threshold. In Stockwell a variant left unset inherits its product's number. A product left unset inherits the store wide default.
Can I run both at once?
Yes. For a week it is a sensible thing to do if you are moving between them. Both read stock from Shopify rather than holding their own copy, so running the two together changes nothing about your inventory. You will get two of every alert until you turn one off.
