What counts as a SKU
One SKU is one variant. A shirt in three sizes and two colours is six variants rather than one product, so a catalog that looks small in the products list can be several times bigger once it is counted the way every plan on this page counts it.
Shopify gives you the number. Open Products, then Variants, then read the total. Doing that before you choose a plan turns this page into one comparison instead of a guess.
What happens if you go over the limit
Nothing breaks and nothing is deleted. Stockwell keeps watching the SKUs you already had and stops adding new ones until there is room or you move up a plan. Alerts for everything already being watched carry on arriving.
The same applies in reverse. If you move down a plan, the SKUs above your new limit are paused rather than removed, so moving back up restores them exactly as they were.
The trial and the billing
- Both paid plans include a 14 day free trial.
- Billing runs through Shopify, so it appears on your Shopify invoice rather than as a separate card charge.
- Cancel from the Shopify admin at any time. No notice period, no cancellation fee.
- The free plan has no time limit and asks for no card. It is not a trial that expires.
Common questions about the price
Is the free plan really free?
Yes, permanently, for up to 50 SKUs with a daily summary by email and Slack. No card, no expiry. The paid plans exist for larger catalogs, more recipients and instant alerts.
What is the difference between instant alerts and the summary?
The daily summary is one email listing everything running low, on every plan including the free one. An instant alert fires the moment a SKU crosses your threshold and is on the paid plans. Most stores want both, which is why the summary is never taken away.
Which plan do I need for Slack alerts?
The daily summary posts to Slack on every plan including the free one. Instant Slack alerts start on Starter at $4.99 a month, the same plan that unlocks instant email, so Slack costs exactly what email costs. Connecting a channel is the same one time step on either.
How does this compare with the other alert apps?
Honestly, in places we lose. The full comparison puts our plans next to Bee, Stockie and StockAlert on price, SKU allowance, locations plus the features we do not have.
