Stocky has shut down: what you can still get out and how
Shopify retired Stocky on 31 August 2026. You can no longer use it to manage inventory, but Shopify gives you read only access to export your data for at least 90 days after that date, which runs to 29 November 2026 at the earliest. Here is what you can still get out, what you cannot and the order to do it in.

Export now, while read only access lasts. Shopify says you keep it for at least 90 days after 31 August 2026, so treat 29 November 2026 as the last safe day. Completed purchase orders, stocktake history and historical cost data come out of Stocky's reports as CSV files. Suppliers do not: Shopify states plainly that they cannot be exported, so copy supplier contacts, delivery times and minimum order quantities by hand before access ends. Old purchase orders cannot be imported into Shopify either, so the CSV files are your record from now on. Do not uninstall the app to tidy up, because Shopify warns that data from an uninstalled Stocky might not come back. New purchase orders and transfers now live in Shopify admin itself.

The three dates that matter

Shopify says at least 90 days, so the window may well run longer. Do not plan around that. Check where things stand on Shopify's guide to migrating from Stocky rather than on a date you read anywhere, this page included. Then get everything out well before the end of November.
What you can still get out
Some of what Stocky held exports cleanly, some does not export at all and some is now covered by Shopify admin for nothing. Work down this table before you spend anything on a replacement.

Supplier records are the row to start on. They are the one thing Shopify has said outright will not come out, nobody else holds a copy and delivery times and minimum order quantities cannot be rebuilt from memory once read only access ends.
Do not uninstall to tidy up. Shopify warns that data from an uninstalled Stocky might not come back if you reinstall. Export everything first, then leave the app alone.
The export checklist, in order
- Suppliers first, by hand. Contacts, delivery times and minimum order quantities into a spreadsheet. There is no export to lean on here. Boring for an hour. Impossible after the window closes.
- Completed purchase orders, the whole history. Not just the recent ones. What you received and what you paid is what gets asked for at year end. Shopify cannot import them, so the CSV files are the only copy you will have.
- Historical cost data. Export it from Stocky's reports and move current costs onto the Shopify variant cost field so your margin reporting still works.
- Stocktake history. Export it so you keep the record.
- The numbers you were working to. Write down the reorder points you were actually using. Those numbers hold real knowledge about your delivery times and they are not written down anywhere else.
- Store it properly. A dated folder in the team drive that gets backed up. Not one person's downloads folder.
What Shopify admin now covers
More than it used to. Shopify's migration guide points Stocky users at four things that now live in Shopify admin itself, at no extra cost:
- Purchase orders, tracked and received in admin.
- Inventory transfers between your locations.
- Adjusting quantities by hand.
- Reporting on every historical inventory change.
What it still does not do is forecast demand or send a low stock warning that reaches you without opening admin. Those are the two gaps most former Stocky users end up filling with an app.
If you have not replaced it yet
The expensive mistake is assuming you need one app that does everything Stocky did. Most stores only ever used a small part of it. Shopify admin now covers more of that part than it did.
Be honest about which of these you actually did in your last three months with Stocky:
- Raised a purchase order? Try purchase orders in Shopify admin first. Move to a full inventory app only if you need supplier catalogs or reordering driven by forecasts.
- Acted on a forecast? Acted on it, not glanced at it. If yes, you need a forecasting app.
- Counted stock or moved it between locations? Shopify admin does this itself, free.
- Only checked what was running low? A simple low stock alerts app covers it, for a fraction of what a full system costs.

Common questions
Can I still use Stocky?
Not to manage inventory. Shopify's Help Center says that as of 31 August 2026 you can no longer use the app for that. You keep read only access to export your data for at least 90 days after that date.
How long can I still export my Stocky data?
For at least 90 days after 31 August 2026, which means until 29 November 2026 at the earliest. Shopify says at least rather than giving an end date, so treat 29 November as the deadline and do not count on more.
Can I export my suppliers from Stocky?
No. Shopify's migration guide states that suppliers cannot be exported from Stocky. Copy contacts, delivery times and minimum order quantities by hand while read only access lasts.
What happens to my purchase orders?
Completed purchase order reports export from Stocky as CSV files. Shopify says historical purchase orders cannot be imported into Shopify, so those files are your record. New orders can go through purchase orders in Shopify admin.
Why did Shopify retire Stocky?
Shopify moved inventory features into Shopify admin and Shopify POS rather than keep a separate app going. Purchase orders and transfers now sit in admin itself.
Is Shopify's native inventory enough to replace Stocky?
For purchase orders, transfers between locations, adjusting quantities and a history of every inventory change, Shopify admin now covers it for free. It does not forecast demand or send a low stock alert that reaches you without opening admin.
